Dalisa sausage lasagna

Ingredients

  • No-boil lasagna noodles

  • 250 ml (1 cup)

    mozzarella cheese

For the meat sauce

  • 1 package (600 g)

    Dalisa combo Italia sausages

  • 450 g

    ground beef

  • 1 l (4 cups)

    crushed tomatoes

  • 500 ml (2 cups)

    tomato sauce

  • 3

    cloves garlic

  • 2

    yellow onions

  • Crushed chili flakes

  • 75 ml (⅓ cup)

    milk

  • 250 ml (1 cup)

    white wine

  • Salt and pepper

  • Fresh basil to taste

For the ricotta sauce

  • 500 ml (2 cups)

    ricotta cheese

  • 125 ml (½ cup)

    grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1

    egg

  • Fresh oregano

  • Pepper

Preparation

For the meat sauce

  1. Finely chop onion and mince garlic.
  2. Remove and dispose of sausage casings.
  3. Over high heat, heat oil and cook sausage meat and ground beef until brown.
  4. Add garlic.
  5. Deglaze with white wine.
  6. Add a pinch of crushed chili flakes.
  7. Pour in milk. Once liquid is absorbed by meat mixture, add crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce.
  8. Season generously with salt and pepper.
  9. Simmer for 25 minutes.
  10. Add chopped basil.

For the ricotta sauce

  1. Place ricotta cheese into a bowl. Add egg, Parmesan cheese and chopped fresh oregano.
  2. Season with pepper and mix.
  3. Add 2 to 3 small ladlefuls of meat sauce.

Assembly the lasagna

  1. Preheat oven to 400 °F.
  2. Pour 250 ml (1 cup) of meat sauce into a 22.5 cm × 33.5 cm (9 in. × 13 in.) baking dish. Add a layer of lasagna noodles to cover the sauce.
  3. Place about 500 ml (2 cups) of meat sauce and about 250 ml (1 cup) of ricotta sauce on top. Add a layer of lasagna noodles.
  4. Repeat once or twice, based on your preference. Make sure to alternate between placing lasagna noodles lengthwise and widthwise, so as to form a grid with the layers. This makes the lasagna easier to cut and serve.
  5. Add final layer of lasagna noodles, a little bit of sauce and mozzarella cheese.
  6. Bake in the middle of the oven for 35 to 40 minutes..
  7. Broil the cheese for a few minutes.
  8. Remove lasagna from the oven and let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
