Rice Pilaf

  • Baking — 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup

    of long grain white rice

  • 1

    chopped onion

  • 2 tbsp

    of butter

  • 1 3/4 cup

    of chicken broth (or vegetable broth for a vegetarian version)

  • Salt and pepper

Preparation

  1. In a saucepan, heat the butter. Add the chopped onion and cook for 1 minute while stirring. Season and add the rice. Cook over medium heat for about 4 minutes, stirring often.
  2. Add the broth. Bring to a boil, cover and cook over low heat for 18 minutes. At the end of cooking, the liquid should be completely absorbed.
  3. Remove from heat, mix well and cover again for 5 minutes. Season as needed.
  4. This is the base of a rice pilaf, you can add additional vegetables or spices according to your taste.
