Sausage and Date Bites

Ingredients

  • 7

    dates, pitted and halved

  • 2

    Dalisa Mexican sausages

  • 14

    basil leaves

  • 14

    pecans

  • 14

    slices of bacon

  • 14

    toothpicks, soaked overnight in water

  • Chopped chives

Sauce

  • 3 tbsp

    of maple syrup

  • 3 tsp

    of Dijon mustard

  • 1 tsp

    of sambal oelek

Preparation

  1. Bake the sausages in the oven at 375°F for about 15 minutes, turning them halfway through cooking. Let cool and slice each sausage into 7 slices.
  2. Garnish each date half with a pecan, a basil leaf and a piece of sausage. Wrap with the bacon slice. Prick with a toothpick to hold.
  3. Bake the bites in the oven for 8 to 10 minutes, turning them regularly so they do not burn.
  4. While cooking, mix the ingredients for the sauce in a small bowl, set aside.
  5. Serve the bites with the sauce and chopped chives.
